Welcome to Grace Christian Counseling
All are welcome at GCC! Your online Christian Counselor will meet you where you are on your journey, listen to and understand your unique story, and develop a plan to accomplish your goals. Our heart desires to see people overcome difficulties and have the life God has planned for them. If you are currently without hope, let one of our counselors hope for you until you can see out from under your burdens!
The Grace Difference
What sets Grace Christian Counseling apart isn’t complexity—it’s integration. While other practices separate faith from therapy or therapy from community understanding, we weave all three together naturally. Your counselor doesn’t just understand clinical approaches; they understand what it means to live out faith in West Virginia communities where church attendance and personal struggle often coexist in uncomfortable silence. This isn’t about adding Bible verses to generic therapy sessions. It’s about authentic integration where your spiritual life, emotional healing, and practical wisdom converge in meaningful ways that honor both your faith and your need for professional support.
Our Services – Tailored for You
Grace Christian Counseling doesn’t offer cookie-cutter solutions—we recognize that the coal miner struggling with chronic pain experiences suffering differently than the nurse wrestling with compassion fatigue, or the teenager navigating identity questions in a small Appalachian town. Our service structure reflects this reality, with specialized approaches that honor both your unique circumstances and your faith foundation.
Whether you’re seeking individual sessions to process personal trauma, couples counseling to rebuild trust after betrayal, or family therapy to navigate generational conflicts, each service integrates biblical principles with evidence-based therapeutic methods. We work with adults confronting anxiety and depression, adolescents dealing with peer pressure and self-worth issues, and families addressing communication breakdowns or behavioral challenges. The common thread isn’t your diagnosis—it’s your desire for healing that doesn’t require you to compartmentalize your faith at the counselor’s door.
Why Choose Christian Counseling?
Life is full of challenges, and it can be difficult to know where to turn when you’re in need of support. For many, Christian counseling offers a unique path—one that integrates both evidence-based therapeutic techniques and spiritual wisdom drawn from the Christian faith.
What sets Christian counseling apart? It addresses not only the mind and emotions, but also the spirit, meeting you at the intersection of personal experience and faith. This approach recognizes that faith can be a powerful tool in the healing process, grounding discussions of hope, resilience, and identity in God’s promises. For those who desire it, sessions may include prayer, biblical principles, or thoughtful reflections that align with your beliefs.
Christian counseling is particularly suited for those who:
- Wish to explore personal struggles through a faith-based lens
- Value the integration of spiritual growth alongside emotional healing
- Seek guidance that is rooted in biblical principles and scripture
- Are looking for a compassionate space to discuss spiritual questions, doubts, or crises alongside life’s difficulties
With a foundation rooted in unconditional acceptance, Christian counseling isn’t simply about treating symptoms—it’s about holistic transformation, inviting both heart and soul to the table. If you’re seeking meaning beyond just symptom relief or want a counselor who understands the role of faith in your journey, this approach may resonate deeply and offer the extra layer of care you’ve been looking for.
Grace’s Counseling Blueprint
If you walked into church with a visible wound, caring people would immediately offer help—yet emotional and spiritual wounds often go unacknowledged. Grace Christian Counseling operates on a simple premise: the walking wounded deserve the same immediate, compassionate response as those with physical injuries. Our blueprint prioritizes creating safe space where West Virginians can bring their hidden struggles into the light without shame or judgment, receiving both professional clinical care and biblically-grounded support that addresses the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
Integrating Biblical & Clinical Care
Take off the Mask
Grace counselors act as a mirror reflecting back to you how God actually sees you. Imagine embracing how God sees you rather than hiding behind a mask.
Heal the Wounds
Our Christian counselors help you unpack your pain and trauma. Once you’ve located the root issues, we will work together to create healing for your wound.
Remove the Toxins
While it’s tempting to create another mask, our integrated Christian counseling helps you remove the toxic beliefs that are harming you.
Replace with Truth
All truth resides from God’s perspective and is critical for your transformation. To be all that you can be, it is vital for you to understand who you were always created to be.

Who Is Online Counseling Not For?
While online Christian counseling can be life-changing for many, there are certain situations where in-person, immediate, or specialized care is necessary. If you or someone you love is actively struggling with suicidal thoughts, experiencing violent urges, navigating a severe psychiatric crisis, or battling severe addiction, online counseling isn’t the safest first step.

What Does the Research Say About Online Therapy?
You might be wondering if online counseling can really make a difference. Good news: trusted studies suggest it can! Recent research published in the Journal of Affective Disorders found that online therapy is just as effective as traditional, in-person counseling for depression. Other respected journals, such as the Journal of Psychological Disorders, report similar results for conditions like major depression, panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder—showing that online sessions help people find relief, hope, and real progress from the comfort of home.
Additionally, innovative approaches like video counseling have even led to reduced psychiatric hospitalizations for those participating, shedding light on the power of accessible, consistent care. In short, whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, or another challenge, online therapy offers a proven, effective path forward—one that brings quality support right to you.

For example, Forbes Health and OnlineTherapy.com both compile their own expert reviews and rankings, highlighting the highest quality online Christian counseling platforms.
When browsing their recommendations, you’ll find a few services consistently recognized for offering compassionate care, licensed Christian therapists, and flexible online options. What Do I Do In Case of a Mental Health Crisis
If you or someone you know is facing a mental health emergency—especially if there are thoughts of self-harm or hurting others—please get help right away. Call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room for immediate support. You can also reach out any time, day or night, to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. Your safety and well-being matter—don’t wait to seek help when you need it most.
How long does Christian counseling typically take?
Duration varies based on individual needs and presenting concerns. Some clients find relief within 6-8 sessions, while deeper issues like trauma or relationship restoration may require several months of consistent work. Your counselor will develop a personalized treatment plan.
Can I switch counselors if the fit isn't right?
Absolutely. The therapeutic relationship forms the foundation of successful counseling. If you don’t feel comfortable with your assigned counselor after a session or two, requesting a different provider demonstrates healthy self-advocacy and increases treatment effectiveness.
Where Can You Access Online Christian Counseling?
Online Christian counseling is accessible from anywhere with a reliable internet connection—whether you’re in Charleston, Morgantown, or rural communities across West Virginia. Most sessions occur through secure video platforms that counselors provide, requiring only a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone.
Sessions typically take place in your chosen private space—a home office, bedroom, or even your parked car during lunch breaks. The key requirement is privacy and minimal distractions to ensure confidential, focused conversation. A common pattern is clients scheduling sessions during children’s nap times or after work hours when household activity settles.
