What online Christian counseling is

Meet with a licensed Christian counselor from home, on a schedule that fits your life. Our counselors combine evidence-based clinical care with Biblical truth and prayer, so you never have to choose between good therapy and your faith.

Online Christian counseling is professional counseling that takes place by secure video instead of in an office. You meet one-on-one with a licensed counselor who listens to your story, helps you understand what you are facing, and works with you on a plan to reach your goals. Faith is part of the conversation in the way that feels right to you.

Research suggests that for many common concerns, such as anxiety and depression, counseling by video can be as helpful as meeting in person. Many clients also find it easier to open up from a familiar, private space.

Is online counseling right for you?

Online counseling may be a good fit if you:

  • Have a busy schedule, young children, or a long commute
  • Live in a rural area or far from a Christian counselor
  • Feel anxious about waiting rooms or meeting in person
  • Have health or mobility concerns that make travel hard
  • Want the privacy and comfort of meeting from home

In-person care may be a better place to start if you:

  • Do not have a private space where you can talk freely
  • Find it hard to stay focused on a screen
  • Need a higher level of care than weekly counseling provides

Not sure? Our care team can help you decide. We also offer in-person counseling at our Western Pennsylvania locations, including Ligonier.

How to get started

Taking the first step can be the hardest part. Our care team will guide you through the rest with warmth and understanding.

Browse our licensed Christian counselors, or let our care team match you with someone who fits your needs.

  2. Pick a time that works

Choose an appointment that fits your schedule, including evening and weekend options.

  3. Join from home

You will receive simple instructions for joining your video session. Log on a few minutes early to check your audio and video.

What you will need

  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A quiet, private space where you can talk freely
  • Headphones, if others are nearby

Grace’s Counseling Blueprint

Our approach integrates Biblical truth with clinical care. Whether you meet with us online or in person, healing often follows these four movements.

Take off the mask

Your counselor helps reflect back how God sees you, so you no longer have to hide behind a mask.

Heal the wounds

Together you gently explore pain and trauma, find the root issues, and work toward healing.

Remove harmful beliefs

Instead of building a new mask, you identify and let go of the false beliefs that have been hurting you.

Replace with truth

Lasting change grows from understanding who God created you to be and living from that truth.

Why choose Grace Christian Counseling

Every Grace counselor is a licensed professional and a mature, actively growing Christian. We vet counselors for both their personal faith and their professional ability to guide people through sound, evidence-based clinical practice alongside Biblical truth, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

All of our counselors receive ongoing training, support, and clinical oversight, so you receive the same high standard of care online as you would in our offices.

Meet our counselors to learn about their backgrounds and specialties.

Care tailored to you

Everyone experiences hardship, loss, and mental health struggles differently. Your counselor will meet you where you are, take time to understand your story, and draw on a range of evidence-based approaches integrated with Scripture to find what works for you.

If we are not the right fit for what you need, our care team will help you find someone who is. If you are currently without hope, let one of our counselors hold onto hope for you until you can see it again.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Questions about online Christian counseling

About online counseling

Is online Christian counseling as effective as in-person counseling?

For many people and many concerns, yes. Research suggests video counseling can be as helpful as in-person sessions for common concerns like anxiety and depression. What matters most is a good fit between you and your counselor. If online sessions are not working well for you, we can talk about other options.

Do I need to live in Pennsylvania?

Counselors must be licensed in the state where you are located during your session. Our online counseling is available throughout Pennsylvania. If you live in another state, learn about our online Christian counseling outside Pennsylvania.

Are online sessions private and confidential?

Yes. Sessions take place on a secure video platform, and your counselor follows the same confidentiality standards as in person. For the most privacy, join from a space where you will not be overheard.

Does insurance cover online counseling?

Coverage depends on your plan. Our care team can help you understand your options before your first session.

Do I have to be a Christian?

No. All are welcome. You decide how much faith is part of your sessions, and your counselor will respect where you are.

Counseling for individuals, couples, and families

What is online individual Christian counseling like?

Sometimes you need a safe, private space to process what is on your heart and mind. In online individual counseling, you meet one-on-one with a licensed Christian counselor who listens carefully, helps you work through challenges, and partners with you on a practical, hope-filled plan for healing and growth.

Sessions can address concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and spiritual struggles, all through a lens that joins clinical wisdom with Biblical truth. Learn more about individual Christian counseling.

Can couples meet online together?

Yes. Whether you are preparing for marriage or walking through a difficult season, you and your spouse can meet with a counselor together by video. Join from the same device in a private room so you can both talk freely. If there is abuse in your relationship or you feel unsafe, couples counseling may not be the right first step, so please let us know and we can help you find safe support. Learn more about Christian marriage counseling.

Do you offer online Christian family counseling?

Yes. Families face challenges that are sometimes subtle and sometimes seismic. Our counselors work with parents, children, and teens, sometimes together and sometimes individually, with both clinical skill and Biblical wisdom. Family counseling can help with:

  • Parenting and communication: expressing needs, setting healthy boundaries, and resolving conflict as a family.
  • Crisis and loss: navigating grief, addiction, financial hardship, or marital stress with practical strategies and prayerful support.
  • Transitions: working through major changes, such as a move, a blended family, or a new season of life.
  • Resilience: supporting each other through hard seasons and building habits that strengthen family bonds.

Counselors can also support children and teens facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, or behavioral challenges. Some concerns, such as eating disorders or substance use, may need medical care or a specialized program, and your counselor will help you decide what level of support is right.

The goal is healthier communication, restored peace at home, and growing together in Christlike love and unity.

If you are in crisis: Online counseling is not emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are thinking about suicide or are in emotional distress, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

"

I have received incredible support from Grace Wellness Center for several years now. The Center does a wonderful job of caring for people individually. I meet with my counselor online. At first I was concerned how it would feel compared to counseling in person but the care I have received has been excellent. They also have in-person services as well where I'm confident you'd receive the same incredible service and care.

"

God definitely lead me and my wife to Grace Wellness Center. Biblical based counseling has added so much to our marriage. We have also referred others who always speak highly of their experience.

"

My experience was always so pleasant. Everyone was welcoming and friendly (they have a therapy dog that walks the hallways sometimes. So gentle and sweet!). My counselor has done an incredible job pushing me and hearing me and helping me grow.

"

Amazing therapists! You can tell they love what they do and love Jesus!! Thank you Grace Wellness Center.
