Christian Depression Counseling In Person & Online
More than a bad week
Signs It May Be Time for Depression Counseling
Sadness is part of life. Depression is different. It lingers for weeks, affects how you think, feel, and function, and doesn't lift just by trying harder.
If several of these have lasted two weeks or more, it's a good time to reach out.
Persistent sadness or emptiness
A heavy, low, or numb feeling most of the day, nearly every day.
Loss of interest
Things you used to enjoy, including people, hobbies, or worship, no longer bring much joy.
Changes in sleep or appetite
Sleeping much more or less than usual, or noticeable changes in appetite or weight.
Low energy
Feeling exhausted, slowed down, or unable to keep up with daily tasks.
Hopelessness or guilt
Feelings of worthlessness, harsh self-criticism, or believing things will never get better.
Trouble concentrating
Difficulty focusing, remembering, or making even small decisions.

How counseling helps
Proven Depression Treatment, Integrated With Faith
Our counselors use evidence-based approaches with strong research support for depression. Faith is part of your care to the degree you choose.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you recognize and challenge discouraging thought patterns and gradually re-engage with the activities and relationships that renew energy and hope.
EMDR
When depression is tied to trauma or painful memories, EMDR helps reduce the emotional weight those memories carry.
Whole-person care
Your counselor looks at sleep, stress, relationships, and spiritual life, and with your permission can coordinate with your doctor if medication is part of your care.

Questions About Christian Depression Counseling
What is Christian depression counseling?
It is licensed, evidence-based depression treatment, such as CBT and EMDR, provided by counselors who share a Christian worldview and can integrate prayer and Scripture into sessions when you want them to.
Is depression a sign that something is wrong with my faith?
No. Depression is a real condition with biological, emotional, and spiritual factors. Many faithful people experience it, and getting help is a wise, faithful step.
How long does depression counseling take?
It varies. Many people notice improvement within a few months of regular sessions, while others continue longer for recurring or long-standing depression. Your counselor will review progress with you along the way.
Can counseling help if I am also on medication?
Yes. Counseling and medication often work well together. With your permission, your counselor can coordinate with your doctor or psychiatrist.
Can I do depression counseling online?
Yes. Online Christian counseling is available through a secure video platform, which can make starting easier when energy is low.
Does insurance cover depression counseling?
In most cases, yes. We accept most major insurance plans, PA Medical Assistance in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties, CHIP, and many EAPs. Our care team checks your benefits before your first session.
What should I do if I am having thoughts of suicide?
Please reach out right away. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline any time, or call 911 if you are in immediate danger. Then let our care team know so we can help you get ongoing support.
